- I Lived on Butterfly Hill by Marjorie Agosin
- Another tween book (protagonist is 11), but it does a great job of the Chilean revolution of the 1970s, so if you have a student who is interested in that time period, I really recommend it. (I read it at 27 and absolutely loved it.)
